Young entrepreneurs and leaders of the Americas met in Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago on April 15th and 16th, 2008 to discuss the issues that affect their lives. This event brought together more than four hundred participants.
The Young Americas Forum is an official event of the V Summit of the Americas, created a platform for young people to submit recommendations to the Heads of State and Government of the Hemisphere gathered in Trinidad and Tobago.
The Forum brought together young people throughout the Americas, to promote leadership, entrepreneurship, innovation and self-empowerment. The current economic crisis affects young people and requires urgent action and concentrated, together with governments, the private sector and civil society.
The young people themselves were the protagonists of this forum, by being present in each discussion panel and leading the Youth Declaration and Plan of Action of Port of Spain, 2009. The dialogues of the Forum focused on issues concerning youth entrepreneurship, innovation, and promotion of technologies to connect the Americas, corporate social responsibility, and best practices in business, youth migration, ethics and business opportunities for young people in the environment and development of new energy sources.

Right through the preparation for the IV Summit of the Americas, YABT, Summit of the Americas Secretariat and the OAS, held the event "Young Entrepreneurs of the Americas: Forum for Civil Society Participation in the Process IV Summit of the Americas "in Buenos Aires, Argentina in August 2005. During the preparatory process for the Summit and the Forum, over 8000 young people contributed their views on the theme of the IV Summit of the Americas: "Creating Jobs to Confront Poverty and Strengthen Democratic Governance."
The forum brought together hundreds of young entrepreneurs, business people, civil society and private sector representatives of OAS member states; it was the result of the combined efforts between youth and local and international partners. Moreover, participants presented their recommendations, opinions and actions based around the theme of the IV Summit of the Americas and adopted the Declaration of Buenos Aires.
